Hospitals must give written notice to people with Medicare saying inpatient hospital care is no longer needed. This happens when Medicare will no longer cover the services. The notice is called An Important Message from Medicare. You or your healthcare representative should keep this notice from the hospital. The notice gives you steps for filing an appeal. You can make an appeal when you think you are being discharged too soon.
